Salamander Hotels & Resorts and Meyer Jabara Hotels have been selected to manage properties in Colorado and Iowa, respectively.

Salamander Hotels & Resorts to manage Aspen Meadows Resort
The Aspen Institute, a global nonprofit organization, has selected Salamander Hotels & Resorts to manage its Aspen Meadows Resort in Aspen, CO.

With an extensive knowledge of resort repositioning, Salamander will work on a plan with Institute leadership over the next five months and assume management of the property on May 1, 2022. The company also has extensive experience curating special events, which complements the Institute’s array of programming, including the Aspen Ideas Festival.

As part of the resort’s evolution, a multimillion-dollar renovation project to upgrade all 98 of its guestrooms is underway with expected completion by early 2023, at which point the property will be branded as Aspen Meadows by Salamander.

The resort features a variety of amenities, including mountain views at Plato’s restaurant; a fitness center and spa services; an outdoor pool and hot tub; five tennis courts; and 22,000 sq. ft. of meeting and function space. A long proponent of sustainable travel, the property switched in 2020 to using 100% clean electricity.

Meyer Jabara to manage Mason City Hyatt Place and Conference Center
Main Street Community Capital (MSCCap), a Dubuque, IA-based development company, has selected Meyer Jabara Hotels (MJH) to manage the Mason City Hyatt Place and Conference Center in Mason City, IA. The 116-key hotel will feature a lobby bar, full-service restaurant, fitness center, indoor pool and other popular brand amenities. Adjacent to the hotel, MSCCap will build a conference center that will connect to the Music Man Square/Meredith Wilson Museum by skywalk and accommodate more than 1,500 attendees. The project will break ground in spring 2022 and is expected to open in summer 2023. This is the third Hyatt Place in the Meyer Jabara Hotels portfolio.

The design concept for the Mason City Hyatt Place and Conference Center pays tribute to famed American architect and Mason City resident Frank Lloyd Wright. Conceptualized by architecture, engineering, planning and interior design firm DLR Group of Omaha, NE, the Hyatt Place and Conference Center will infuse elements reminiscent of the area. Reflective of the landscape will be warm wood tones and colors, adding details in line and patterns similar to Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture within modern expression. The entrance of the hotel opens to the bar, surrounding lounge and fireplace.

Another design focal point is the modern metal main staircase, surrounded by windows and accented by a sculptural lighting element that connects guests to the main ballroom on the lobby level or supplement meeting space above.
